Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)

1702 Anti-Cliché Alert!  Kirk (William Shatner) takes the Enterprise down below Khan's ship while inside the Nebula, and then back up, winding up behind Khan (Ricardo Montalban) instead of in front of him. Kirk is thus one of the few movie space Captains to ever realize that space is 3 dimensional. Statalyzer

1899 Khan is quite the literary figure! Apparently he has read Moby Dick:

Khan: "To the last, I will grapple with thee! From Hell's heart, I stab at thee. For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee."

Ahab: "Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee."

And then:

Khan: "I'll chase him 'round the moons of Nibia and 'round the Antares Maelstrom and 'round perdition's flames before I give him up."

Ahab: "I'll chase him round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom and 'round perdition's flames before I give him up."

I had heard the similarity between the moons of Nibia and Good Hope is uncanny. Steve Dent

1899.01 Khan definitely has read Moby Dick - when Chekov (Walter Koenig) and Terrell (Paul Winfield) explore the Botany Bay, the novel is visible on a shelf. Statalyzer
